Bed bug bites are very irritating. Waking up in the morning with itchy and swelling spots on your skin is not a comfortable thing. How to treat bedbug bites is a question that most people have not yet found answers to. Knowing how to treat the bites however does not mean that you should not get rid of the bed bugs. The following are proven ways to treat bed bugs effectively and successfully:
One of the most successful ways is by using water and baking soda. This is done by first washing the bites thoroughly with soap and water. Then, make a sticky paste with the water and baking soda. Apply the paste to the bites ensuring that you cover all of them. Let the paste stay on the bites for an hour or so, until it dries up. You will feel the relieving effect after the hour or even less for some people. Then wash the dried paste away gently. This however is the curative measure taken to only relieve the pain and not the swelling. To reduce the swelling, you take an ice pack and massage the infected areas gently.
Another easy way on how to treat bed bug bites is by applying the gel from Aloe Vera plant. The gel is proved to have anti-fungal properties that cure the itching bites. This gel is obtained by simply cutting an Aloe plant and applying the gel that immediately comes out of the plant. This is a cure for the itchy effect of the bite only.
A traditional way on how to treat bed bug bites is by using peppermint oil in bathing water. This method has been around for many years and is therefore a very effective method. You simply fill the bath tub with preferably warm water. Then you add a half tea cup of peppermint oil in it. Stir the water for even distribution of the oil in it. After taking the bath, the itch caused by the bites will fade away almost immediately.
In the bathing water you can also use powdered oatmeal, baking soda with salt in it and Alka-Seltzer. Those who are allergic to aspirin should not use Alker-Seltzer.
The itch is also treated by saturating a cotton ball with lemon juice and then dabbing the rashes with it. This is a method that cures both the swelling and itch of bed bug bites.
The methods above are those you can use at home. There are also medical ways to treat these bites.
One of them is by using over the counter medicines. One is by using an anti-itch cream that is steroidal. Look for one that contains cortisone or even hydrocortisone. Make sure you follow the instructions on the medicine`s package in order to apply the cream correctly and have positive results in a short time.
In order to cure the rashes that come after the bite, take oral tablets called antihistamine. When taking the medication, remember to use calamine lotion that protects the skin from more bed bug bites. Pain relievers containing ibuprofen and naproxen are highly recommended as a remedy for pain.
How to treat bed bug bites should no longer be a mystery with the remedies above
